The Collectible Store is proud to present, Rubin "Hurricane" Carter. After his release from prison in September 1961, Carter became a professional boxer. At 5 ft 8 in (1.7 m), Carter was shorter than the average middleweight, but he fought all of his professional career at 155–160 lb (70–72.6 kg). His aggressive style and punching power (resulting in many early-round knockouts) drew attention, establishing him as a crowd favorite and earning him the nickname "Hurricane." After he defeated a number of middleweight contenders such as Florentino Fernandez, Holley Mims, Gomeo Brennan, and George Benton the boxing world took notice. The Ring first listed him as one of its "Top 10" middleweight contenders in July 1963. The piece is a matted 11 x 14, placed on a 14 x 17 horizontal black styrene frame. Tru Vue Conservation Grade 99% UV protection was used on this fine piece to protect the autograph and photo. A 8 x 10 horizontal back and white photo of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, hand signed photo in blue ink, placed on a white mat with black borders around the picture. A name plaque is positioned below the signed picture with the inscription in black ink "Rubin "Hurricane" Carter - American Middleweight Boxer". The certificate of Authenticity is from P.A.A.S Hologram # MF 13947 is enclosed in an envelope and attached on the back of the frame. It includes a horizontal frame holder. The piece weighs 3½ pounds.
