As a political activist, he founded the advocacy organization People For the American Way in 1981 and has supported First Amendment rights and progressive causes. He is credited with helping to give many African Americans career opportunities in the television industry. The piece is a 11x14 placed in a 15x19 horizontal solid black wooden frame with 1 inch in depth with glass. Tru Vue Conservation Grade 99% UV Protection was used on this fine piece to protect the autograph and photo. A 4x6 color photo of Norman Lear is centered in a black mat with white borders on the frame. A cut card signature of Norman Lear in black ink is placed below the photo.
