 Product Description

Collectible Store is proud to present, Charles "Chuck" Wepner (born February 26, 1939) is a former heavyweight boxer from Bayonne, New Jersey. As a tough journeyman boxer he went 15 rounds with world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali in a 1975 fight. It was announced Wepner would challenge Muhammad Ali for the world's Heavyweight title. According to a Time magazine article, Ali was guaranteed $1.5 million and Wepner signed for $100,000. This was considerably more than Wepner had ever earned and he therefore did not need any coaxing. Wepner spent eight weeks training. Wepner lost to Muhammad Ali. The piece is a 11x14 placed in a 13x16 horizontal cherry wooden frame with 1 inch in depth with glass. Tru Vue Conservation Grade 99% UV Protection glass was used on this fine piece to protect the autograph and photo. An 8x10 color photo of Charles "Chuck" Wepner fighting Muhammad Ali in their first fight in 1975 is hand signed by Charles Wepner in silver ink and is centered in a white mat with red borders on the frame. A golden name plate is centered on the bottom part of the mat with the engraving in black letters “Charles "Chuck" Wepner Heavyweight Boxer. The Certificate of Authentication (COA) from JG Autographs is enclosed in an envelope and attached to a white mat on the back of the frame. The frame includes a horizontal frame holder attached to the back. The piece weighs 3 pounds.
