Johnson was named the Memphis area High School Player of the Year in baseball at Germantown High School in 1999. He was also recruited to play football at Mississippi State University, but opted for baseball instead.The piece is a 9x12 vertical black marble finish wooden plaque with 1 inch in depth with acrylic. Clear Acrylic was used on this piece to protect the autograph and baseball card. A (2½ x3½ ) color horizontal SP Authentics baseball card, hand signed by Ben Johnson in blue ink, is centered on the plaque in a beige colored mat. A gold colored name plate is positioned below the card with the engraving in black letters "Ben Johnson Padres Authentic Signature". A copy of the back of the card is enclosed in an envelope and attached to the back of the plaque. The plaque weighs 2 pounds and includes a vertical plaque holder.
