He pitched for the Chicago White Sox (199096) and Florida Marlins (1997, 19992000) in his 11-year Major League Baseball career. Fernandez retired in 2001, citing shoulder problems that were incurred in the 1997 postseason, when the Florida Marlins won their first-ever World Series championship. The piece is 14x14 placed in a 16x16 vertical black wooden frame with 1 inch in depth with glass. Tru Vue Conservation Grade 99% UV protection glass was used on this piece to protect the autograph and photo. A 6x8 color photo of Alex Fernandez, hand signed in black ink, is placed on the right side of the frame in a black mat with green borders. The piece also includes an additional 6x8 photo placed on the left side of the mat. A gold colored name plate is positioned below the photo with the engraving in black letters "Alex Fernandez Cuban American Baseball Pitcher". The Certificate of Authentication (COA) from PAAS hologram# MF 12902 is enclosed in an envelope and attached to the back of the frame. The piece includes a vertical frame holder attached to the back.
