Collectible Store is proud to present, Alphonso Erwin Downing is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. An All Star in 1967 and NL Comeback Player of the Year in 1971, Downing surrendered Hank Aaron's record breaking 715th home run on April 8, 1974. Downing signed with the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent in 1961, and was already on the major league roster by July of that season. Downing became the sixth American League pitcher and the 13th pitcher in Major League history to accomplish this feat. The piece is a 9x12 horizontal cherry finish wooden plaque with 1 inch in depth with acrylic. Clear acrylic was used on this fine piece to protect the autograph and card. A 2.5x3.5 sports card is hand signed in blue ink by Al Downing and is centered in a red mat. A golden name plate is centered next to the card with the engraving in black letters Al Downing New York Yankees Authentic Signature. The Certificate of Authentication (COA) from Upper Deck. A copy of the back of the card is enclosed in an envelope and attached to the back of the plaque. The plaque includes a horizontal plaque holder. The piece weighs 2 pounds.
